Kristina Urquhart is a Toronto-based founder, publishing professional, editor and journalist who specializes in content strategy and development for niche audiences, primarily in B2B and B2C markets. Her versatile writing style makes any topic fair game, but she holds particular expertise in the areas of resale, business, technology, industry and design.

As a third-generation entrepreneur, Kristina’s seen firsthand the power of small businesses to make a difference in their local communities. With The Vintage Seeker, she’s proud to have developed a social enterprise that provides a platform for independent shop owners.

Career

Kristina is the editor and founder of The Vintage Seeker, an online magazine and community that provides resources and insight for vintage dealers, independent resellers, thrifters and secondhand shoppers in Canada. As an advocate for resellers and a consumer herself, Kristina connects the worlds of buying and selling with educational content that shows people where they can find sustainable secondhand stuff, and that helps sellers reach more secondhand shoppers.

Her publishing resume includes editorships at Annex Business Media, where she directed content for the Manufacturing AUTOMATION and Pulp & Paper Canada brands, and at Applied Arts, where she catered to advertising, graphic design and image-making professionals. Kristina began her media career in 2008 at St. Joseph Communications, where she first served as intern at Ottawa Magazine before moving to assistant editor at Where VancouverWhere Whistler, Where Alaska & Yukon, Essential Vancouver and RM (formerly Journeys West), Rocky Mountaineer’s seatback magazine.

Aside from launching her own business, Kristina’s professional highlights include: Covering the lead-up to the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games for a triple-size issue of Where Vancouver; relaunching Applied Arts magazine with a new content strategy and visual identity in 2016; programming the Applied Arts Creative Futures Expo from 2014 through 2017; co-editing the annual Women in Forestry program at Annex Business Media from 2019 through 2021; and developing the inaugural Women in Manufacturing Virtual Summit for Annex Business Media in 2021.

Kristina holds a Bachelor of Journalism (High Honours) with a minor in English Language & Literature from Carleton University. She is a Certified Copy Editor and member of Editors Canada.
